Priority eClassic Plus: An Elegant eBike Without the Hassle

You get the idea; riding an electric bike is exciting, thrilling, terrifying, etc. This Priority eClassic Plus, on the other hand, doesn’t look like an electric bike and isn’t scary in the least.

Electric bikes have caught my attention for a while. Living on the Gulf Coast, where there are many bike-friendly nature trails and beautiful, extensive beachside boardwalks, I was attracted to the idea of expanding my riding distance. In the Priority eClassic Plus, I thought I had found the e-bike for which I had been looking; it was feature-rich without being unduly sophisticated, making it ideal for those relaxed, extended rides. In no way was I disappointed.

Somewhat Lightweight Bicycle

One of my main concerns about investing in an electric bike was how heavy it would be. Apparently, e-bikes are really heavy. I have a few problems because of my weight. Getting the bike onto my bike rack, which is almost shoulder height for me, is the first step in transporting it to a trailhead. There’s also the question of how well my Jeep’s “over-the-tire” rack would hold the bike.

I was taken away to learn that not only could I effortlessly elevate the eClassic Plus by myself, but it also fit nicely in my bike rack and didn’t skew the balance too much. It was sufficiently tight that I didn’t have to worry about losing it while driving the forty-five minutes to a bike trail that’s close to home.

Easy-to-See Settings

However, don’t let the appearance of heaviness mislead you. The pedal assist on this e-bike is effective at all three levels of power, making lengthy rides, ascents, and descents much simpler. The nicest aspect, though, was that I could turn on and off the pedal assist whenever I wanted, so I could easily swap between the bike’s powered and traditional functions.

The Priority eClassic Plus has a digital speedometer and other settings

When I need to move without utilizing the bike’s motor, I can easily select the proper gear via the hub controls located on the handlebars. If I got tired or needed an extra boost, all I had to do was push a button on the control box, which was conveniently located on the other side of the handlebars.

In addition to activating pedal assistance and activating the front light, the control box also displays your speed, distance traveled, and battery life. The power function of the bicycle, which can achieve speeds of up to 20 miles per hour, picks up speed gradually. Since I’m still learning the ropes as a cyclist, I found that I relied on the rack more for stability in challenging situations than for increasing my speed or reducing my load when I became tired of peddling.

Another factor that makes me wary of e-bikes is the amount of upkeep they require on a regular basis. The low maintenance requirements of the eClassic Plus put that concern to rest. Simply put, I charge it, use it, and then put it away. Since it uses a carbon fiber belt instead of a metal chain, it never needs to be oiled, and there’s no adjusting or maintaining to do in between rides.

While charging for several hours, the battery may be easily removed from the downtube of the bike and reinstalled with the use of a key once it’s ready to go. Its battery life has always exceeded mine on rides, so I never had to worry about it dying mid-ride.

All of these wonderful traits are incorporated into mid-range e-bikes. If you aren’t an expert at e-bike assembly, I would recommend having this bike shipped to a local bike shop so they can assemble it for you. The bike is available for $1700 online.

All in all, I appreciate everything about this bike, including the clear controls and low ownership requirements, as well as the antique styling that gives it the look of a conventional bike. If you’re searching for your first e-bike or you just want the ease of semi-powered riding without the difficulties that certain e-bikes may bring, this is an excellent choice.
